Beautiful chapter! The ride through the night had a really dark atmosphere, and even a symbolic layer with the missing of Eärendil and the dawn.

I liked the connection with the prologue through the naclace and how warm Elrond's welcome was.

Author's Response:

First off, my sincere apologies for taking so long to respond to your reviews!  Real life in June went absolutely berserk and somehow finishing up review responses got shoved too far onto the back burner.

I'm so glad you liked this chapter... it was a bit of a wild ride for them both, wasn't it?   Glad also you liked Elrond here.  I just can't ever see him not wanting to his see his son, despite the tension between them.

Thanks again for the review!

That scene between Aragorn and Elrond was wonderful on so many layers. And of course Halbarad was right and Aragorn had worried without reason. Elrond welcoming him back pratically without words that just screamed the words "a father's love" at me *sighs*.

And on an aside, it's really funny to realized that Halbarad and I are the same shopping type. Reluctant and undecided until our best friend pushes us to finally buy the damn thing:)

Author's Response: Thanks, Michelle... I see the Black Breath and his state of mind really working against Aragorn in this story, making him magnify his misconceptions of Elrond's feelings for him.  I think under normal circumstances, Aragorn might not have felt so hopeless when it came to Elrond welcoming him back, but part of the Black Breath is despair, and it clouded his thinking.  I'm glad you liked the way his return played out.  There really wasn't anything Elrond needed to say, was there?   And I have to admit, I shop a bit like Halbarad, too! LOL  Thanks for the review!

Yay! They made it to Rivendell. I do hope Halbarad will be alright. This was some wonderful angst, lemme tell you that! Grade A angst for sure! I particularly liked Aragorn's concern for his friend, and also how you wove in the necklace halbarad got his wife in that short story you wrote awhile back. I liked the connection. I also liked how your Elrond greeted Aragorn, very much how I also envision Elrond. Great writing, and I look forward to reading more!

Author's Response: Thanks, Roisin!  Glad you liked this chapter!  Yep, plenty of angst to go around in this one--it was such a harrowing ride, and did Aragorn's own health no good, but he did get Halbarad to Elrond.  I'm glad my vision of Elrond is similar to yours... in reading the books, you have to see that Elrond has a deep love for Aragorn, and I like to explore that in all its facets, even when they occasionally don't communicate as well as they should for whatever reason.  I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thanks for the reviews you're leaving!  Always an encouragement. :)

I love it!!!

Want more...

No honestly, it's great. I like your way of writing Elrond. I seem to never really grasp his character, when I write fanfiction.

Hurry with the next chapter...please?

Author's Response: Thank you, Turwaith!  I'm glad you're enjoying the story!  Elrond is a bit of a challenge, especially for someone like me who prefers the book version of him over the movie version.  It's hard to get "movie Elrond" out of my head when I try to write his character.  Next chapter hopefully will go up at the end of this week.  Thank you for taking time to leave such a kind review!
