This is gorgeous!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it!! I like to imagine those moments in between the text that Tolkien gives us. I've also often been fascinated with Aragorn's journey to Rivendell with the hobbits in tow and have wondered what form Arwen's watchfulness over him would take.

I very much like how you make Arwen's chore of "waiting" something like an activity (for lack of a better word). I always hated the part of the story where Aragorn goes out to save the world and she sits at home knitting. I suppose I'm too much of a feminist to find this appealing. You give this some redeeming quality.

Author's Response: I like to think that Arwen did more than sit at home knitting or lounging on pillows, too. Thanks for the feedback.

This is beautiful! I like how you describe their relationship and that special bond.

You should write more! I hope we won't wait for your next story this long. ;)

Author's Response: Thanks, Ellynn, for your encouragement. I enjoy writing when I can find the time, and this story concept was one I had in mind for a long time. I do wish I could write more often, but real life with 6 kids usually keeps me extremely busy. Blessings!

Just lovely!  You've caught and illustrated well Arwen's watching over Aragorn from afar, and the strengthening of Aragorn as he senses her hope.  The details are what bring this to life--the hole in Aragorn's boot, the descriptions of the banner elements, the description of the chilly October night in Rivendell. I felt like I was alongside both of them as I read this. Really well done!

Author's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words, Cairistiona! I've often been fascinated with what may have been going through Aragorn's mind during the many long nights of keeping watch over the Hobbits over the course of the perilous journey to Rivendell from Bree. This story allowed me to explore those thoughts as well as imagine exactly how Arwen may have kept watch over her Ranger as he faced untold dangers through the years.
